OUR NORTHUMBRIA PARTNERSHIP
Picture
Hoosier Sport Global is being developed through a growing partnership between Indiana University and Northumbria University in Newcastle, England.

The partnership started through relationships first built in Bloomington, Indiana, and a shared interest in research, sport, student learning, and community impact. What began as conversations and professional relationships has grown into plans for study abroad, virtual exchange, collaborative research, grants, and future student opportunities.

FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS
Picture
Hoosier Sport Global is being developed for students interested in research, public health, sport, youth development, and community engagement.

A major part of the initiative is a research-focused study abroad program with Northumbria University. Students will be able to build research skills, learn with international faculty and students, and connect their work to communities in England.

Students may also have opportunities to:
  • Participate in international virtual exchange
  • Contribute to collaborative research projects
  • Learn about sport and community engagement abroad
  • Build cross-cultural relationships
  • Prepare for graduate or professional programs
WHAT COMES NEXT?
Picture
The England visit was an important step in the continued development of Hoosier Sport Global.

The Hoosier Sport and Northumbria University teams are working toward a Spring 2027 launch for the international virtual exchange while continuing to develop the research-focused study abroad program, collaborative research and grant opportunities, and undergraduate research training.

The goal is to create long-term opportunities where students can build research skills, learn across cultures, and create an impact beyond Indiana and Newcastle.
