There are multiple ways to get involved with Hoosier Sport​​​

For prospective PhD students: Contact Dr. Kyle Kercher ([email protected]) to inquire.

For graduate students (masters level): Volunteer Research Assistant opportunities. Priority given to students with greater than 1.5 years remaining until graduation. Internship opportunities available through the Masters of Public Health (MPH) program.

For undergraduate students: Yearly recruitment, priority given to freshmen and sophomores at time of application. Limited opportunities available to enroll in 3-credit sport-based youth development service learning course at IU. Independent study options available (1-3 credits each semester)

We are also a lab within the Hutton Early Research Opportunities Program. 

Undergraduate students working with Hoosier Sport gain hands-on experience at the intersection of sport, public health, and research. Opportunities include data collection and management, survey development, program implementation in schools, literature reviews, and contributing to manuscripts and grant proposals. Students also build valuable skills in teamwork, communication, leadership, and community engagement while learning how research translates into practice. We strive to mentor students in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where their contributions matter. Alumni of the program are well-prepared for careers and graduate study in public health, medicine, psychology, sport management, education, and related fields.
