WHAT IS HOOSIER SPORT Hoosier Sport is a community-based program at Indiana University Bloomington that uses sport and physical activity to support youth development in rural school and community settings.
Through partnerships with schools and local organizations, IU students serve as mentors and role models while helping create positive experiences around movement, teamwork, confidence, and leadership. Hoosier Sport also connects this hands-on work with research, helping the program better understand how university-community partnerships can support youth and strengthen local communities. |
OUR MISSION
Together, we use the power of sport to move and mentor our way to a healthier future.
Hoosier Sport supports rural youth, prepare IU students for meaningful service and leadership, and build stronger university-community partnerships through research-informed programming.

Hoosier Sport was created to connect Indiana University students with youth and communities through meaningful, activity-based programming. The program gives youth positive experiences with physical activity while creating space for mentorship, leadership, confidence-building, and connection.
For IU students, Hoosier Sport provides hands-on experience in service, communication, leadership, and community-based research. The program is more than a volunteer opportunity. It is a learning experience that connects university students with real community needs. |
